True Blood

I started watching True Blood recently and the opening titles must be one of the most stunning opening titles made for television in recent years.

The TV series is created by American Beauty (writer) Alan Ball and Six Feet Under (creator) fame. Digital Kitchen are the creators of this fantastic work, see for yourself....

Villa Överby by John Robert Nilsson

Villa Overby sits on a hilltop in Sweden and is designed by architect John Robert Nilsson. I came across this beautiful house via Deseen and it instantly grabbed my attention.

The incredible backdrop and its surroundings make this house very special and on a cold January rainy day I would like nothing more than to be there admiring the view. More information on the design can be found at:

The house also features in the new version of the film, 'The girl with the dragon tattoo.'

GO FORTH

Levi's latest advert has been released as part of the 'Go Forth' series, however they have decided not to broadcast the advert on TV or in the cinemas currently due to the recent rioting across the UK. The campaign is centred around youthful freedom and features a young man coming face to face in a stand-off against riot police. The advert plays a fantastic reading by Charles Bukowski with a poem titled 'The Laughing Heart.'

It is an inspiring piece of film created by the talented people at Wieden and Kennedy US....

Levi's Go Forth credits:
Agency: Wieden + Kennedy US
ECD: Susan Hoffman
Creative directors: Tyler Whisnand, Jeff Williams, Eric Baldwin
Creatives: Antony Goldstein, Julia Blackburn, Jeff Williams

McQueen's Road Trip

Niall O'Brien (Dazed & Confused contributor) shot a series of photographs earlier this year for Alexander McQueen's Spring Summer collection 2011. The shoot was a journey across the USA involving travelling up the coast of California into Washington State, Montana and Idaho, with random stops in small towns.

“When we stopped, it was usually at rivers and small towns where we’d end up hanging out with kids and locals, drinking beers, swimming, exploring and having fun.”- Niall O’Brien

the longboard girls

Carving the Mountains from Juan Rayos on Vimeo.

Love this short movie showing the Longboard Girls Crew on an afternoon in the mountains around Madrid. The video represents the spirt of female longboarding: style, freedom and team-spirit.

Forget the BMX I want, think I need to get myself a longboard!

TEN TIMES ROSIE

One of my favourite designers Thomas Wylde (Paula Thomas) launched a photography book last year shot by photographer Rankin and featuring the incredible BritishVictoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. 'TEN TIMES ROSIE' showcases the designs of Paula Thomas with Rosie Huntington taking on ten different personas in every photograph. The short film taken from the Thomas Wylde website takes us behind the scenes of creating this truly spectacular creative project...

Architectural Visualisation

I love 3D visualisation.... I work with architects and property developers to help visualise their designs and ideas. I create a 3D model of their building on the computer and try to make it look as realistic as possible using software called Cinema 4D and Vray. The computer images are usually used for marketing a development before it is built although sometimes I'm needed to help produce a CGI (computer generated image) to gain planning permission.

I've been doing it for many years now and it is my day job. The image above is one of my latest personal projects it is a copy of a Mr and Mrs Smith Hotel bathroom. I saw the original photo on Mr&Mrssmith.com and fell in love with the space instantly. I decided to set myself the challenge to try and re-create the space in 3D and replicate the look of the real photograph of the room. The image below is the photo of the real space, the image above is the computer image.

What do you think is it close to the real photo?
